Question
Who was Judas?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ʻalayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
In history, there were many persons who bore the name of Judah, one of them is Judas son of Jacob, may Allah exalt his mention, and one of the brothers of Joseph, 
.
Also, Judas Iscariot is said to be one of the disciples of Jesus Christ, peace be upon him, and it is said that he was the disciple who betrayed him, and Allah knows best. Knowledge of this is of no real benefit. Allah, the Exalted, says (what means): {That was a nation which has passed on. It will have (the consequence of) what it earned, and you will have what you have earned. And you will not be asked about what they used to do.} [Quran 2:134]
