Question
how can i help my brother in islam debating with others on the issue of drums assam aleikum my brother in islam works in debating against non-muslims (in the content of Quran Vs bible) .some days back there was a MAULID in amosque at our village area.when imet this brother i told him how can he challeng his opponents regarding drums and flutes,after i saw peaple in that maulid were beating drums inside the house of Allah.i was blank in points as well as himi told him i will find a way how to help him.so how will this be solved in case a question comes "even muslims do pray to their God using drums and flutes" as i know it is not iun the teachings of islam?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad 
is His slave and Messenger.
The matter is as you mentioned in the question; using drums and flutes when mentioning Allaah (or during any act of worship) is not from the Religion of Allaah at all, rather this is an innovation, and the Prophet and his companions 
did not practise such a method in worshipping Allaah, and it is confirmed that the Prophet said: "Whoever introduces into this matter of ours [Islam] that which is not a part of it, it will be rejected." [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]. In addition to this, celebrating the birthday of the Prophet or celebrating the birthday of any other person is also an innovation. Finally, it should be noted that a person who calls non-Muslims to Islam needs many things, for more benefit in this regard, please refer to Fataawa 91563 and 84349.
