Question
I'm Palestinian married to Palestinian girl (she has an American citizenship only and she does not have Palestinian Identity so she need to renew her visa in Palestine every 3 months for 3 times and then she must leave Palestine for a while, and then return back). She and her family worked for me to have a visa to go to America to stay their for a while working to enhance my income, and then return back to Palestine, I told them that I will not leave Palestine to work, either this work was in America or elsewhere. Because its Haraam to leave Palestine, because the Israelis encourage this for many reasons.
I want to continue my education to get a Master and PhD degree, I have excellent scores, so I tried really so hard to get a scholarship, I applied to many scholarships, but the results were all negative. Now I have an opportunity to go to the USA to have a Master and PhD degrees in an affordable amount of money, as I will get a green card when I get their.
My question is: Can I go to America for the sake of getting higher education only, and with a very deep and strong intention to return back to Palestine as soon as I finish my study their?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
We have already issued Fataawa: 84777 and 82091 clarifying the permissibility of traveling to non-Muslim countries if some conditions are met. So if you are safe about your religion from misconceptions, desires and temptations, and you are unable to study in your country, then there is no harm on you to travel to
