Fatwa CenterEating improperly cooked food or food with blood stains
Question
Sometimes the food I eat outside looks like it is not cooked properly and can see blood stains in them. And once it happened that it looked as though the blood had not dried. Is this type of food Haraam though the chicken is Halaal?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
If the animal is slaughtered according to Islamic rites, then the blood that remains in the veins, or in the flesh, or in the bone is pure. Ibn Jareer
reported that 'Aa'ishah 
said: "We used to cook food at the time of the Prophet 
and the foam of blood would raise on top of the pot, and we used to eat without any objections."
Ibn Abu Haatem said: 'It is only the blood poured forth that is forbidden, but if it is in the flesh then there is no harm in it.'
Imaam An-Nawawi said regarding the blood that remains in the flesh and the bone: 'Indeed very few scholars of our school tackled this subject. However, many righteous predecessors
reported that there is no harm in it, that is because it is very difficult to separate the blood from the flesh or bone. In fact, Imaam Ahmad and the scholars of his school explained that there is no harm in the blood that remains in the flesh even if it is all covered with blood as it is difficult to avoid it. This opinion had been reported from 'Aa'ishah, 'Ikrimah, Ath-Thawri, Ibn 'Uyaynah, Abu Yoosuf, Ahmad, Is-Haaq and others 
.'
To conclude, there is no harm in the blood that remains in the flesh after slaughtering of the animal according to Islamic rites.
