I pray 2 Rak’ah and my intention is to present their reward to Prophet Muhammad (may Allah's peace and blessing be upon him). Is that correct?
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
Presenting the reward of good deeds to the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) is a controversial matter between Muslim scholars. Ibn Aqeel, al-Majd; Izz Ibn Abdussalam, al-Subki and other Shafi’e scholars are of the opinion that it is permissible. It is also stated by Ibn Abideen al-Hnafi as the opinion of al-Ahnaf.
However, Imam al-Taj al-Fazori, Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah, Ibn Qadi Shabah from al-Shafiah, al-Haattab al-Maliki and the majority of other scholars are of the opinion that is not allowed.
Ibn Abideen discusses the matter thoroughly in Radd ul-Mhhtar and inclined to its permissibility.
Anyway, it is a disputable matter and both parties have strong opinions. Thus, one may choose any of them. Know that those who permitted presenting the reward of good deeds do not permit presenting the reward of prayers.
Therefore, we believe that one should avoid doing so, and instead he should invoke blessings on the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) and ask the highest grade of Jannah (al-Wasilah) for him.
Allah knows best.
