Question
I would like to know the meaning of name “Wisaal”. I just came to know Wisaal meaning of passed away. Is it that true?
Answer
Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
The linguistic meaning of the word al-Wisal is “connecting, linking, attaching,” etc. The juristic meaning of the word is fasting two days continuously without taking any food or drink as explained by Imam Al-Nawawi. He wrote in al-Iqna: ‘Al-Wisal means fasting uninterruptly for two days or more without having any food at night intentionally’.
