I am from Morocco and I want to do Umrah but I didn't yet perform Hajj because Umrah is cheaper than Hajj I don't have money for Hajj. Please show me the description of Umrah.
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
‘Umrah consists of some essential parts and obligatory acts. The essential parts of ‘Umrah are as follows:
a) Ihram, i.e. declaring the intention of entering the state of Ihram to perform ‘Umrah.
b) Performing Tawaaf (circumambulation) around the Ka'bah seven times while in the state of Tahaarah (purity).
c) Walking between As-Safa and Al-Marwah seven times; beginning from As-Safa and ending at Al-Marwah.
All the above are the essential parts of ‘Umrah. Everyone who neglects Ihram his ‘Umrah is invalid and whoever neglects any other essential part of ‘Umrah other than Ihram, his ‘Umrah is incomplete until he performs it. The obligatory acts of ‘Umrah are as following:
a) The Ihram should be established from the Meeqaat (fixed places for establishing Ihram).
b) Shaving or cutting the hair short.
c) Getting out of the stitched dress.
Everyone who fails to perform any obligatory act should offer a sacrifice. The acts other than the essential rituals and obligatory acts of ‘Umrah are merely Sunnah acts of ‘Umrah; neglecting them does not affect the validity of ‘Umrah and such person is not considered mistaken.
The Sunnah acts of an ‘Umrah are taking bath and wearing perfume before Ihram, cutting nails, shaving pubic hair and putting a condition saying: "O Allah! I shall be relieved of the Ihram wherever I am prevented from continuing my rituals of ‘Umrah."
It is also from the Sunnah to enter the state of Ihram following a prayer and pronounce the Talbiyah.
Kissing the black stone is also from the Sunnah provided one should not push others; it is sufficient to make a gesture towards the black stone if he cannot touch it easily. Running in the first three rounds of Tawaaf, uncovering the right shoulder in all seven rounds of Tawaaf and continuously remembering Allah during Tawaaf is also from the Sunnah.
It is also from the Sunnah to perform two Rak’ahs at the back of Maqam Ibraheem after completing Tawaaf, and to drink Zamzam water before starting Sa’y.
The Sunnah acts of Sa’y are climbing up the mountain of As-Safa, remembering Allah, uttering the words 'we shall start by what Allah mentioned first', running fast between two green pillars, and increasing in the remembrance of Allah.
It is desirable to perform a farewell Tawaaf after completing ‘Umrah and before leaving Makkah.
Finally, we ask Allah to help the questioner to perform his ‘Umrah according to the Sunnah, and we ask Him to accept it from him.
Allah knows best.
