Question
What is the ruling on using skin creams during fasting? If one finds its taste in his mouth, does this invalidate fasting? Is this different from the case when a substance actually reaches the throat?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that none is worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.
It is permissible to use skin creams during fasting, even if one will feel its taste in his mouth. It is neither food nor drink nor something to their effect. Rather, what is forbidden during fasting is food and drink, as well as things to their effect.
