A person is filling out an application form for a course or a job he wants to do, and is asked questions about his education, e.g., 'what is the highest level of education you have achieved?'
However, he has earned qualifications by cheating. Can he answer these questions and put down his qualifications that he obtained by cheating, or would this make the course he completes or job he gets haram?
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad
is His slave and Messenger.
The person mentioned must hasten to repent to Allah the Almighty for the cheating he committed, and he must be careful in the future to avoid cheating, for it is religiously forbidden, as the Prophet
said: "Whoever cheats us is not one of us." (Muslim)
Furthermore, if the cheating occurred on his part in some subjects or the like, we hope that he does not sin by benefiting from the certificate he obtained, such that he writes it on the application form, and enrolls in the course he mentioned. Likewise, he may benefit from the job he will obtain by means of the aforementioned certificate, provided he is skilled at his work and performs it in the manner required.
Allah knows best.
