Her husband stays naked in front of mother or sisters

Question

Can my husband go to his mothers home and stay naked in front of his mother and his own sisters? Please give me the answer according to the sharia?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ʻalayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

There is nothing wrong with the man visiting his family as long as this does not cause him to neglect his wife's right over him. However, it is impermissible for him to allow any woman, regardless of whether they are non-mahram or mahram (permanently unmarriageable) to him, to see his ʻawrah (body parts that must be concealed as per the sharee'ah). Please, refer to fataawa 81982 and 87818about the man's ʻawrah before his mahram females.

It is absolutely hideous for a man to be naked before his mother or sisters. It is unacceptable and an indication of a distorted instinct and ill character. And if his mahram female relatives agree to such an act, then this may lead to a grave sin, and it may eventually lead to falling into the sin of incest, which is one of the gravest and most serious sins. Ibn ʻAbbaas may Allaah be pleased with him narrated that the Prophet, sallallaahu ʻalayhi wa sallam, said, “Whoever has intercourse with a mahram relative, kill him.” [Ahmad, At-Tirmithi and Ibn Maajah]

Ibn Hajar Al-Haytami may Allaah have mercy upon him wrote, “The gravest kind of adultery is incest...” [Az-Zawaajir ʻan Iqtiraaf Al-Kabaa'ir]

Freedom must be governed by the provisions of the sharee'ah, as opposed to giving free reign to people's evil and sinful desires, lest mischief and immorality would prevail. Allaah says (what means): {But if the Truth had followed their inclinations, the heavens and the earth and whoever is in them would have been ruined. Rather, We have brought them their message, but they, from their message, are turning away.} [Quran 23:71]

Allaah knows best.
