Saying 'And to that my Lord, I too am a witness,' after reciting Quran 3:8

Question

Assalaamualaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakaatuh. 1. Please verify the Christian equivalent name of the following: Surah 3 The Family of Imran: Is Imran - Amram or Joachim? Surah 11 Hud: Is Prophet Hud - Eber or Heber? Surah 31 Luqman: Is Luqman - Balaam? 2. Regarding the Verse Shahidallah (Surah 3, verse 18), is there a hadith that states that The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, after reciting this verse in Arafat, said 'And to that my Lord, I too am a witness.' Jazakallahu khayran Thank you.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.

We have no knowledge of the equivalent of the names of those Prophets in the bibles or their proper pronunciations. We have underlined that the reason for having diverse pronunciations for the names of the Prophets is that the Gospel was revealed in the Syriac language and was translated into other languages. This is why pronunciation of these names in the Gospel is different from that of the Quran, which was revealed in Arabic. For more benefit, please refer to Fatwa 249394.

We could not find any reference suggesting that ‘Imraan was a prophet. This is regarding your first question.

As for the second question, Ibn Katheer may Allaah have mercy upon him cited in his interpretation of the Quran a report on the authority of Ibn Abi Haatim may Allaah have mercy upon him who related that Az-Zubayr may Allaah be pleased with him said, “I heard the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, saying, 'And to that my Lord, I too am a witness,' after reciting the verse (which means):{Allaah witnesses that there is no deity except Him, and [so do] the angels and those of knowledge}[Quran 3:8].

Ibn Katheer may Allaah have mercy upon him also cited a report that when Al-A‘mash may Allaah have mercy upon him recited the verse that reads (what means), {Allaah witnesses that there is no deity except Him, and [so do] the angels and those of knowledge…} [Quran 3:8], he remarked, “I too testify to that which Allaah has testified and I entrust this testimony to Allaah, so it is a trust from me kept with Allaah.

Allaah Knows best.
