If a wife is very caring etc but has no envy to have sexual intercourse. is that a valid reason to separate from her? is it true that Allah's throne trembles when there is divorce?
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
If the husband is harmed by his wife not willing to have sexual intercourse, then he has the right to divorce her. However, it is better for him not to hasten to divorce her especially if she is religious and has a good moral conduct. He may treat her coldness with permissible medicines (means of treatment), and the Prophet said: ''A believer should not hate a female believer (i.e. his wife), if he hates one of her characters, he will be pleased with another.” Moreover, homes are not only built on love or sexual intercourse.
As regards the statement that the Throne of Allaah shakes when divorce takes place, then we are not aware of any evidence about this.
Concerning the Prophetic narration which reads: “Marry and do not divorce because the Throne shakes when divorce happens.”, then this is a fabricated narration as clarified by the scholars .
However, divorce is permissible by the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of the Prophet and the consensus of Muslim scholars. Indeed, the majority of the scholars are of the view that divorce is permissible in principle, but in some cases divorce is obligatory, desirable, disliked, or forbidden.
