Fatwa CenterA parent reminding his children of his favour upon them
Question
Sometimes in reprimanding my children I reminded all the favors and sacrifices that I had made for them. Is ok in syariah to do so?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
Some scholars 
stated that it is permissible for a father to remind his children of his favours upon them in order to remind them of his rights over them.
However, you should be kind to your children, supplicate for them and teach them their religious obligations towards their Lord, their parents and family.
