All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
One should not stretch his leg in the direction of the Mus-haf (i.e. the Arabic text of the Quran) as this may be considered as despising the Book of Allaah. Moreover, some scholars are of the view that it is forbidden to do so.
Al-Bujayrimi from the Shaafi'ee School of jurisprudence said: 'It is forbidden to stretch one's leg to the direction of the Mus-haf, and it is forbidden to give it (the Mushaf) to a non-Muslim.'
On the other hand, some other scholars are of the view that it is only disliked to do so. For instance, Al-Buhooti from the
Similarly, the Hanafi School of jurisprudence jurists stated in their books that it is disliked to stretch one's leg to the direction of the Mus-haf unless it is placed at a level higher than one’s feet.
