All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
It is a recommended act to read the Quran while pondering and deeply thinking upon it. Pondering over the Quran is the most important target as the Quran enlightens the hearts. Allah Says (what means): {[This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded.} [Quran 38:29] Allah further Says (what means): {Do they not then think deeply on the Quran, or are their hearts locked upon (from understanding it)?} [Quran 47:24] The scholars mentioned some etiquettes that should be observed when pondering over the Quran, like concentrating on what is being read, thinking on the obligations and prohibitions while accepting them from one’s heart, seeking forgiveness when one reads a verse on which he was negligent, seeking Allah’s Mercy when reading a verse in which mercy is mentioned, seeking refuge in Allah from His Punishment when hearing a verse on punishment, and glorifying Allah when His Glorification is mentioned, or supplicating when reading a verse in which a supplication is mentioned and so forth.
Allah Knows best.
