Making Du'aa for the Prophet after the call to prayer

Question:

After the Iqaamah is said, I see some people recite the same Du'aa that is recited after the Athaan. Is it right? Please do reply.

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

Asking the grades of "Al-Waseelah, and Al-Fadheelah" after calling to prayer is desirable. Jaabir may Allaah be pleased with him narrated that the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: "Whoever after listening to the call to prayer says, "Allaahumma rabba haathihid-d'awatit-taammah, wassalatil-qaa-imah aati Muhammadan al-waseelata wal-fadheelah, wab'ath-hu maqaman mahmoodan allathee wa'adtah." (O Allah, Owner of this perfect call and Owner of this prayer to be performed, bestow upon Muhammad al-waseelah and al-fadeelah and send him upon a praised platform which You have promised him.) Then my intercession will granted for him on the Day of Resurrection." [Al-Bukhari]

It is reported in the book of Imaam Muslim may Allaah have mercy upon him that 'Abdullaah Ibn 'Amr may Allaah be pleased with him that he heard the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) say: "If you hear the caller to the prayers, repeat after him. Then supplicate for me, for whoever supplicate that Allaah exalts my mention once, Allaah will give him ten multiples in forgiveness. Then ask Allaah to grant me the rank of Al-Waseelah, which is a grade in the Paradise."

These narrations prove asking Al-Waseelah following the call to the prayer, and this includes both Athaan and Iqaamah. This is clearly mentioned by the majority of Muslim scholars.

Allaah Knows best.
