All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
If the questioner is inquiring whether or not it is permissible to spend the Zakat of his own money on 'Aqeeqah (i.e. the slaughtering done for a new born), then it is not permissible, because the Zakat should be spent on the people who are eligible for it. They are mentioned in Fatwas: 88368 and 86546 and it is not permissible for the person who pays Zakat to spend it for his own benefits as it is no longer his property. However, if the questioner is inquiring whether it is permissible for a person who is eligible for Zakat and who is mentioned in previous Fatwas to spend the Zakat that he had taken for 'Aqeeqah purposes, then the answer is yes, because by taking the Zakat it becomes his property and he can spend it as he wishes in permissible means without being wasteful or extravagant. Finally, we draw the attention of the questioner that his question is not clear; that's why the answer is not precise.
Allaah knows best.
