Working as an accounts assistant dealing with interest

Question:

I am working as an accounts assistant in UK and I record transactions for the company including interest but not the actual contracts. Is it Haram and the money that I get? Please be clear.

Answer:

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.

Recording transactions with interests and usury is not permissible, because it is a kind of help with falsehood.

Allah forbade that by Saying: {…but do not help one another in sin and transgression….}[5:2].

If your work in this institution entails recording what has a relation with usury and interest, then it is not permissible for you to carry on your work, because this kind of work is considered as a help in sin and enmity, unless your work is limited to recording non-usury and non-interest accounts for the institution.

Allah knows best.
