Question:

Is it true that all the Sunnah deed e.g. reciting Qur'an, Sunnah, prayers, etc. that we do in the house we purchased through Riba transaction will not be accepted by Allah (s.w.t)?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

All good deeds, such as performing obligatory or voluntary prayers, reciting the Quran, fasting, etc., are valid according to the Sharee’ah. They may also be accepted by Allah if they meet all the legal conditions required for their validity.

But the person bears the sin of indulging in Riba (interest and/or usury). Dealing with Riba is a grave sin and actually the one who deals in Riba declares war against Allah and His Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ). No doubt, the dealer in Riba will be destroyed in that war. So, he must make sincere repentance and free himself from Riba in order to avoid being demolished in this worldly life and thrown into Hellfire in the Hereafter.

Allah Says (what means): {O you who have believed, fear Allah and give up what remains [due to you] of interest, if you should be believers. And if you do not, then be informed of a war [against you] from Allah and His Messenger. But if you repent, you may have your principal - [thus] you do no wrong, nor are you wronged.} [Quran2:278-279]

Allah knows best.
