Question:
I travelled with my family to Saudia for two reasons, Umra and to visit my sister in Riyadh. I arrived in Riyadh and stayed for two days, then flew to Madina for Ziara and stayed for one night. Then I flew to Jeddah with my pregnant wife and children where I stayed till the next day, put on the Ihraam and went to Makkah for Umra. A friend told me that I was supposed to put on the Ihraam from Madina. It would have been very difficult for us to go to Makkah after our our trip from Riyadh and especially with my wife who is not very healthy. Please advise me.
Answer:
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
Your ‘Umrah is valid, Allah willing, but you have to slaughter a sheep or a goat and distribute its meat amongst the poor people of Al-Haram [i.e. Makkah], since you had passed the Meeqaat without assuming the state of Ihraam.
Allah knows best.
