Question:

I read books about the beginning of creation, the angels, the torment of the grave, etc, but I do not believe in these things. I do not know why I reject them. What is the ruling on a person in my case?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

According to the consensus of Muslim scholars, if anyone does not believe in the creation of Aadam (Adam) may Allaah exalt his mention the heavens and the earth as Allaah The Almighty told us in His Book, or refuses to believe in the angels, or the torment of the grave, then, he is not considered a Muslim. This is because he does not believe in the indisputably established facts of the religion  and belies the explicit texts of the Quran and the Sunnah even though he claims to believe in Allaah The Almighty, as he denies Islamic beliefs that are absolutely  established. If you believe in Allaah The Almighty, then why do you not believe in His Words? You should renew your Faith and be certain in your heart of everything that has reached us from the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, according to their intended meaning of Allaah The Almighty and His Messenger. You must submit to Allaah The Almighty so that He may forgive the acts of disbelief and apostasy that you are guilty of.

Repentance eradicates the sins that were committed before it and embracing Islam eradicates all that was done before it.

And Allaah Knows best.
