All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.
Jinn can inhabit children's toys, stones or other places. However, this should not be a reason to be dominated by whisperings and fear from Satan or by the dread of any movement or stillness that occurs in these toys, believing that this is caused by Jinn. Rather, a Muslim should strive to fortify himself from Satan's plots by constant remembrance of Allaah and reciting the Quran.
On the other hand, jinn often inhabit ruins and places of impurities. Hence, there is a certain supplication to be said before entering the bathroom, and some scholars said that the reason is that these places are residence of Jinn. Also, there is a prohibition of urinating in holes due to the same reason. It was narrated on the authority of ‘Abdullaah ibn Sarjis that the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, forbade urinating in a hole (in the ground). They asked Qataadah: "Why is it disliked to urinate in holes?" He replied: "Holes are said to be the dwellings of Jinn." [Abu Daawood]
Allaah Knows best.
