All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
This act is not permissible because this leads to humiliating the Words of Allaah, it is for this reason that the scholars issued a Fataawa prohibiting writing Quranic verses on the shroud of the dead.
Ibn Hajar Al-Haytami said: “Imaam Ibn As-Salah issued a Fatwa that it is not permissible to write Quranic verses on the shroud in order to protect it [Quran] from the pus of the dead, ……... Ibn As-Salah established this and the Imaams who came after him did the same as well, and this is very obvious.”
It is not in this manner that the dead is honoured; rather, the dead is honoured by following the Sunnah in washing him and enshrouding him.
Allaah Knows best.
