Question:

Assalam alkm. Pls I a big problem which can be summarised as follows:
1. I am a member of the armed forces, and specifically, a fighter instructor pilot of a non islamic country.
2. I got into this condition because some scholars in my country gave us a fatwa to join the system and use our position to defend the intrest of the muslims, who are oppresed.
3. I sent an earlier question to you and am convince that this is wrong. My problem is how to disengage from the system.
4. The service conditon is that you have to serve for 15 years minimum before retirement. i have only served 5years.
5. The Service lacks pilots so they may not release me, moreover, they have trained me in the USA, UK and China.
6. Nobody, even the muslims in the system, seem to be reasoning with me. They re trying to convince me to stay by claiming i will be more useful to Islam by staying.
7. I have been in this dilema for some years now and i really dont know how to go about disengaging. What do I do and how do I go about it? Please I urgently need your advice.
May Allah reward you abundantly, Amin

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

The case is as we previously told you in Fatwa 85727 that it is not permissible for you to remain in this job, and you must try your best to quit it. We advise you to seek help from Allaah by supplicating Him ardently to facilitate for you quitting this job. Then, seek the help of trustworthy and expert Muslims there.

However, if you could not leave this job and remained in it under dire necessity, you should fear Allaah as much as you can. You should take advantage of your position to help your Muslim brothers and repel the harm off them to the best of your ability. Moreover, you should present the beauties of Islam through dealing with your colleagues at work and elsewhere. Perhaps Allaah will guide them at your hands, so you will earn a great reward. When the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, sent ‘Ali may Allaah be pleased with him to Khaybar, he said: "Then call them to Islam and inform them of what Allaah made obligatory on them. By Allaah, if Allaah guided one man at your hands, it would be better for you than the most precious camels." [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Allaah Knows best.
