All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.
The Names of Allaah are established only through the Quran and the Sunnah. It is impermissible to give Allaah a name, except that which He or the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, stated to be one of His Names.
However, As-Saatir and As-Sattaar are neither mentioned in the Quran nor in the Sunnah, to the best of our knowledge, as being Names of Allaah.
As-Sitteer is mentioned in a Saheeh Hadeeth. Ya‘laa ibn Umayyah narrated that the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said that Allaah is verily Hayyiy (which implies bashfulness) and Sitteer (which implies concealing the sins). He Loves modesty and the concealment of faults. [Ahmad, Abu Daawood and An-Nasaa’i.]
