Israel detains 19 Palestinians in West Bank

Israeli army has detained 19 Palestinians in overnight raids across the West Bank, a Palestinian NGO said Tuesday.

The Israeli army detained 17 Palestinians from several villages south and north of Hebron city, after raiding their houses and assaulting their families, the Palestinian Prisoners Society said in a statement.

The Israeli troops also detained a Palestinian man near Jenin and another near Tulkarm, southern West Bank, it added.

Israeli forces routinely conduct detention campaigns against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank on claims that they are "wanted" by Israeli authorities.

Over 7,000 Palestinians are currently languishing in prisons throughout Israel, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Prisoners' Affairs.
