Question
What are the deeds that would invalidate Hajj? Do disobedience and dispute invalidate Hajj? Would Hajj be counted for man just as he performed it, despite the mistakes and disputes that he committed therein?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His Slave and Messenger.
Hajj is invalidated only by having sexual intercourse during Ihraam (ritual consecration). Ibn Qudaamah said, "There are no different opinions regarding the invalidation of Hajj because of having sexual intercourse." Ibn Al-Munthir said, "Scholars agreed that Hajj is invalidated only by having sexual intercourse during Ihraam."
Allah The Almighty Says (what means): {There is [to be for him] no sexual relations and no disobedience and no disputing during Hajj.} [Quran 2:197]
Disobedience and dispute do not invalidate Hajj, but sins and acts of disobedience, in general, affect the reward of the pilgrim and they may cause him to miss the reward of an accepted Hajj. Shaykh Ibn Baaz said, "The accepted Hajj is that which is free of sexual intercourse and what is affiliated to it of deeds and words, disobedience and disputing without a right.”
And Allah knows best.
