Question
Will the Muslim woman who does not marry in this life have a husband in Paradise?
Fatwa
All perfect praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His Slave and Messenger.
Based on the examination of relevant texts of the Sharee‘ah (Islamic legislation), it is almost certain that every woman in Paradise will have a husband.
This is for several reasons:
• Men in Paradise are abundant and some of them will have more than one human wife. In a Hadeeth (narration) on the authority of Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, the Prophet mentioned that men entering Paradise with the first group will have two wives who are so beautiful that the bone marrow of their legs may be seen from behind the flesh. [Al-Bukhari and Muslim] An-Nawawi and others stressed that these two wives are from the humans, not the Hoor (Houri). They are two women who deserve to enter Paradise by the bounty of Allah The Almighty and because of their good deeds.
• In some Hadeeths narrated by Muslim, it is mentioned that every person, both male and female, in Paradise will have a spouse. It explicitly means that all the people of Paradise will have their own mates.
• Women naturally desire marriage, just like men, and Allah The Almighty Says with regard to Paradise (what means): {And therein is whatever the souls desire and [what] delights the eyes.} [Quran 43:71]
There is no doubt that any normal woman desires to have a husband whom she enjoys looking at and having intercourse with.
And Allah knows best.
