Question:
What is the best way to help the brothers and sisters in Gaza? Do we have to recite qunoot in a daily prayer which is I heard a hadith that companions of prophet used to do qunoot in their five times prayer?
Fatwa:
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.
A Muslim can help his suffering brothers – like the case of the people of Gaza with money, medicine, clothes and so on. Allah urged the believers to spend in good causes.
Allah Says (what means): {Who is he that will lend to Allah a goodly loan so that He may multiply it to him many times?…}[Quran 2:245]. Allah also Says (what means): {O you who believe! Spend of what We have provided for you, before a Day comes when there will be no bargaining, nor friendship, nor intercession…..}[Quran 2:254]. Allah further Says (what means): {…Believe in Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad), and spend of that whereof He has made you trustees….}[Quran 57:7].There are many Ahadeeth and verses on this subject. You can also pray for them that Allah may relieve their agony and sorrow, and save them from the condition they are in and grant them victory.
There is no harm for you to pray for them daily in Qunoot. Imaam Ahmad reported in the Musnad and Abu Dawud in the Sunan from Ibn Abbaas, may Allah be pleased with him: “The Prophet made Du’a Qunoot for a complete month in Thuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Ishaa and Fajr prayers, at the end of every prayer while standing up from Rukoo’ at the last Rak’ah saying “Sami’ Allahu Limen Hamidah,” then he would make a Du’a on the enemy, on the people of Bani Sulaym, Re’il, Thukwaan and Usayyah, and the people praying behind him would say “Ameen”.
Allah Knows best.
