Question:
My mother is suffering with Arthritis and she can't walk long distances and problem walking on stairs. She wants to perform Hajj this year along with my father. They will be traveling from
Fatwa:
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger, may Allah exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
We thank the questioner brother for his desire to facilitate his parents' Hajj. We supplicate Allah to count it in your good deeds.
We advise you to do what you can do to make your parents' Hajj as easy as possible, such as hiring a wheel chair for your mother who cannot walk for a long distance and for performing circumambulation around Ka'bah and walking between Safaa and Marwah if you cannot do yourself. If you can live in accommodation near to their accommodation then it is better. Also you have to help them in all other rites of Hajj such as throwing pebbles; you may throw on behalf of the one who cannot carry out this obligation, if he/she authorized you. However, authorizing some one to make circumambulation around Ka'bah or to walk between Safaa and Marwah, or to stay at 'Arafah or spent the night at Muzdalifah, is not allowed.
